NLD : Rowing the Boat Towards an Inclusive Government

Gearing for 100 barangays to be served this year, the Nagkakaisang Lingkod Bayan ng Davao Oriental successfully delivered its services and delineated diffident advocacies to welcoming, very responsive, and energetic folks of two barangays in Manay on July 19 and another two barangays in Tarragona on July 20.

Manay Municipal Mayor Antero Dayanghirang has recognized the provincial government’s effort in bringing the services right into the doorstep of the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas in Barangays Del Pilar and Cayawan. He said the NLD-BOC has become a venue to address the pressing needs in the community, citing the road going to barangay Del Pilar that is going to be upgraded from gravel to concrete.

In Tarragona, Punong Barangay Gary Segumban and Michael Tagaunsod seemed to be running out of words in thanking the provincial government for the program that spells road to peace and development, and inculcating again that the program is an incomparable investment that any leader could venture into for his expectant constituents.

“My people now and have proven that the government is working for them. There’s no reason not to support the government,” said PB Gary Segumban of Barangay Jovellar.

“What more can we ask? Health services, upgrading agricultural production, livelihood opportunities and more, all delivered for free,” added PB Michael Tagaunsod of Barangay Central.

Boasting of the services that the NLD Barangay Outreach Caravan has given to the 10 barangays of Tarragona, Mayor Nestor Uy reiterated that the people should support only one true government.

“For sure by now you have already determined the kind of government with the intention of helping and protecting us. But all the efforts of the government will be useless if the people lack the warmth and do not appreciate the program,” he explained.

As the locals exude with excitement and joy to the activity even for a day, Vice Governor Niño Sotero Uy, representing Gov. Nelson Dayanghirang, re-echoed the vision of inclusive governance in making NLD Barangay Outreach Caravan a reality to the people.

“The Governor has time and again made it clear that the program is aimed at making people happy, and addressing their needs. We are all rowing our boat towards one goal. So, everybody must take command from the captain and follow. If we row our boat towards different directions, certainly, there’s nowhere to go. We will never reach our desired destination,” he furthered.

The schoolchildren were all smile with their new bags and other school supplies, the farmers received the seedlings with the hope to duplicate their production, the fisherfolks took the tilapia fingerlings anticipating a bountiful harvest, beneficiaries of employment opportunity beamed with pride because needs of their families will be met, and many more were offered and delivered by 30 to 40 departments of the provincial government and national line agencies.

Witnessing the activity were Vice Mayor Daday Bualan, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Davao Oriental Provincial Police Office Director, Police Senior Superintendent Jose Bayani Gucela, Lt. Col. Miguel Ramon of the Philippine Army’s 28th IB, Tarragona Municipal Local Government Operation Officer Lucenita Niez, and NLD Focal Person Rotchie Ravelo who gave the rationale of the program that has now become a major breakthrough in the local leadership of Davao Oriental.
