Gov Turns over Cash Assistance to Fire Victims

DAVAO ORIENTAL – As promised, cash assistance to the 31 families, whose homes were destroyed by a fire that broke out last week, was distributed on Friday, March 9.

Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang personally met the victims and handed over the cash assistance amounting to P10,000 each to 17 house owners and P5,000 each to 14 home-sharers.

Personnel from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office facilitated the distribution of cash assistance at the Grand Conference Room at the Provincial Capitol. Aside from the cash, the 17 homeowners will receive corrugated roofing sheets.

The Governor extended his deep sorrow about the incident and told the families to be strong in this time of trial. He hopes that they will get back on their feet as soon as possible.

City Councilors Jerome Dayanghirang and Maria Gracia Tiago, who joined the turnover of cash aid said that the City Government of Mati is now looking for a relocation area for the fire victims.

The blaze at Purok Sampaguita 2, Barangay Central in the City of Mati has reduced to ashes a total of 17 houses and left these 31 families homeless and three persons injured. Governor Dayanghirang has directed concerned offices to look after the needs of the injured patients. Photo by Riza Golez
