Thousands walk at Founding Anniversary Parade

MATI CITY— A turnout of an about 1,500 people from the different National Government Agencies (NGAs), provincial offices, private sector, Community Groups and Local Government Units (LGUs) came to participate on Saturday’s Parada 2018.

The early morning parade which started at the Mati Park and Baywalk passed through the main thoroughfares of the City of Mati and ended at the Capitol grounds.

Members of horse clubs all over Mindanao who participated during Davao Oriental’s first horse show and competition as well as dog lovers and their various breeds of dogs also joined the parade.

In line with the 51st celebration of Araw ng Davao Oriental, the yearly event was held to unite and promote camaraderie among people within the province.

The parade was followed by a brief program where the attendees were given the chance to be one of the lucky winners of the draw lots courtesy of the governor’s office where home appliances and other goods were given away. The participating agencies and offices were also acknowledged as they were given certificates.

“It is not just a celebration of the Provincial Capitol, of the Provincial Government, but a celebration of the entire people of the province of Davao Oriental,” Vice Governor Hon. Nino Sotero L. Uy, Jr. said as he gave the overview of the event. By Shae Dacles
